The Philippines has officially declared a nationwide energy emergency as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate. As a result, local airlines are now adjusting their operations while reassuring passengers that essential services will remain available.
In response to the situation, budget airline Cebu Pacific has announced temporary suspensions and reduced flight frequencies across several international routes. This decision comes as fuel prices surge sharply, reportedly more than doubling compared to 2025 averages.
Specifically, the airline will suspend flights connecting Davao to Bangkok, Iloilo to Bangkok, Iloilo to Singapore, and Clark to Hanoi from April through October 2026. Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific will also reduce flight frequencies to major destinations such as Singapore, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Â Tokyo. and Sydney during the same period.
Despite these operational changes, Cebu Pacific CEO Mike Szücs expressed confidence in the airline’s ability to manage the crisis. He emphasized the company’s “structural advantages,” including its strong domestic network, steady demand for essential travel, and the efficiency of its fuel-saving NEO aircraft fleet.
Moreover, the airline highlighted its strong financial performance in 2025, along with a solid liquidity position, as key factors that will help it navigate ongoing uncertainties with discipline and resilience.
To support affected passengers, Cebu Pacific is offering flexible options. Travelers may choose to rebook their flights, convert tickets into travel fund credits, or request full refunds.

The country’s flag carrier confirmed that it has secured an adequate supply of jet fuel, allowing it to sustain both domestic and long-haul international flights in the foreseeable future.
